New addition to the existing school campus for the early years school which is to be relocated. The architecture responds to the desire to be surrounded by nature and to be able to expand the classrooms to the outside.
Respecting the topography of the site, the building is an extension of the terraced landscape. Conceived as an open space with several faces, intended to be discovered by children, it features at its heart a large atrium surrounded by flights of steps and ramps. The building is a dynamic experience, a playful and continuous journey through the spaces.
The architecture focuses on essential functional and spatial qualities rather than on cosmetic finishes. The use of natural materials and the exposure of technical systems have, among other benefits, an educational purpose.
Sustainable features including a Canadian well and the landscaping with local species are part of an environmental approach that meets the school’s ambitions.
